For over a decade Czech artist Veronika Richterová has been on a mission to transform PET plastic bottles into stunning artwork such as this gorgeous collection of plants that includes cacti, flowers and other foliage.
By heating, cutting and reassembling the plastic bottles, Richterová is able to manipulate the repurposed bottles into a range of shapes. Her collection of plastic bottle art ranges from mushrooms, crocodiles and butterflies to penguins and jellyfish.
So far, Richterová has collected over 3,000 PET plastic objects from 76 countries. She has also written an extensive article on the history of PET plastic bottles, which explains her fascination with the material. The artist collaborates with husband and graphic designer Michal Cihlár, who photographed all the images pictured here.
