Learning to deal with change isn’t easy for everyone including April Bloomfield. The chef behind New York City’s massively successful gastro-pub The Spotted Pig believes change is a positive thing because it stretches boundaries and you “learn from that process.”
The British-born chef and James Beard Award winner shared her thoughts on change in a recent interview with Bloomberg. “I’ve learned to be a better manager, a better leader. I’ve really had to learn to adapt and change and mold…Most of all I’ve learned about balance,” she said.
Bloomfield, who has gone on to open four more restaurants and star in the PBS series Mind of a Chef, also confessed she doesn't like to be "put in a box" and dreams of owning a farm where she can raise chicken, sheep and pigs.
“I’d love to go back to the roots and start growing. We haven’t found a spot yet, but I’ve been looking. It comes back to that I like to learn. And when you stop learning, you stop growing. I still have a lot to learn,” she said.
The chef is currently gearing up for the release of her second cookbook A Girl and Her Greens set to debut April 21st. Swing by Bloomberg to read the rest of her inspiring interview.
