Last Christmas more than $300,000 worth of wine was stolen from The French Laundry. Since then chef Thomas Keller has relied on help from the wine community and local police to solve the mystery. Thankfully, most of the stolen wine has been recovered.
Keller made the announcement on Twitter where he thanked the Napa Sheriff's department and said the wine has returned ''undamaged.'' That's good news for the chef whose team of sommeliers had crafted a stellar wine program for the restaurant. The stole wines included bottles from the famous Romanée Conti vineyard, which are valued at around $15,000 each.
The bottles were found in a private cellar in North Carolina, according to The Press Democrat. However, the owner of the cellar was not arrested. The investigation is ongoing as the authorities still don't have any leads as to who was responsible for the theft.
