Food expert and lifestyle maven Martha Stewart has tiptoed into the 3D printing world. She's teamed up with MakerBot, an industry leader in 3D printers, to launch a line of 3D printing materials to be used for printing elegant housewares.
Called the Martha Stewart Trellis Collection, the line includes materials for 3D-printed coaster, a napkin ring, an LED votive holder, and a place card holder. The materials, known as filaments, are sold through the MakerBot digital store and come in three pastel colors: Jadeite green, Lemon Drop yellow, and Robin’s Egg blue.
Of course, making your own 3D-printed Martha Stewart luxury housewares would require investing in a 3D printer, which retail anywhere between $799 and $6,500. The MakerBot line includes everything from small desktop 3D scanners to huge high-tech 3D printers.
“We are thrilled to work with MakerBot to bring our signature color palette and designs to the world of 3D printing. 3D printing allows for cost-effective product design without compromising artisanal character. With this partnership, we are able to leverage our expertise and expand our business into the exciting new 3D printing category,” Stewart said of the partnership.
Kudos to Martha for being a pioneer in the 3D printing world! Would you purchase a 3D printer to make her designs? Tell us in the comments below!
