As countries from all over the world build their pavilions inside a specially designed ‘sustainable smart city’ for Expo Milano 2015 - we have decided to take a look at some of the exciting ideas and activities being planned by countries from all over the world.
The Expo in Milan will be the first ever World Fair to focus on food and we’ve already looked at some of the USA’s plans for the event. Today we look to Asia and China, who have set out plans to build two spaces in Milan.
The main Chinese Pavilion, a wonderful looking building with a wave like roof, will be created by New York firm Studio Link-Arc alongside a team from Tsinghua University after the duo won a competition to design the space.
Their winning design features the huge wavy roof seen below, it’s made from bamboo panels and houses an indoor crop field, allowing people to visit and experience farming techniques that follow the Chinese lunisolar calendar.
The second of project from China is called ‘Seeds of China’ - a beautifully designed building set to play host to displays focusing on: The Origin of Life, The Power of Growth, The Dream of the Seeds, Light of Life, Cycle of Life and The Culinary Arts. The building (pictured above) was inspired by the spiral of a DNA chain.
The Chinese real estate company Vanke will make Expo history as the first private company with their very own private pavilion. The multi-billion dollar corporation promises to build a virtual forrest for guests to explore the theme of “Shitang” which means table in Chinese.
With 1 million tickets already sold to Chinese operators it seems these spaces are so far set to be some of the busiest on site.
S.Pellegrino will be Official Water partner of the Italy's Expo Milano 2015 and Padiglione Italia.
