Here's one more thing Grant Achatz can brag about: he employs the world's best bartender. That's because Charles Joly, the head bartender at The Aviary in Chicago was crowned the winner of the World Class 2014, a competition that can be compared to the Olympics of bartending.
The World Class 2014 was held in London where Joly competed with 49 other bartenders from around the world. After a series of challenges, a panel of international judges and spirits experts declared Joly the winner. He beat out the competition with a punch served in a a dry-ice laden treasure chest with a tiny Chicago flag pinned to the lid, the Chicago Tribune reports.

At The Aviary, Joly and his staff offers world-class cocktails and drinks served on handcrafted ice, which is made by a real 'ice man' (see video below). Their cutting-edge beverage program features the use of the porthole infuser, a device that was custom made for Achatz but has become so popular it will soon be available commercially.
