World's Most Expensive Grapes Sell for $5,400 A Bunch

Lavish presents are the norm at weddings but a Japanese couple received a gift some may find hard to swallow. The lovebirds were gifted a bunch of Ruby Roman grapes - the most expensive in the world - that sold for $5,400 a bunch at an auction, Fox News reports.

The 30 individual Ruby Roman grapes costs $180 each and weighed a total of 28 ounces (800 grams). Each grape measured about 1.2 inches diameter, roughly the size of a ping pong ball, according to Japan Times.

Ruby Roman grapes are a specialty in the Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan and typically cost a fortune, even more than dinner at the world's most expensive restaurant. They are prized for their sweetness and considered a symbol of good luck.
