If you’ve been craving something sweeter from Thomas Keller your prayers have been answered. The acclaimed chef of Per Se and The French Laundry will be opening a gourmet ice cream shop in Napa Valley.
The working name of the shop is Bouchon Creamery and will have “up to 12 flavors of ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt, made daily on-site,” according to San Francisco Gate's Inside Scoop.
The ice cream shop will be located in a former art gallery near Keller’s retail store Finesse, The Store. Here’s what makes this ice cream shop even more exciting: the ice cream toppings like the walnut streusel, fruit, caramel, and homemade chocolate and whipped cream will come straight from Bouchon Bakery, SF Gate reports.
Keller’s eponymous restaurant group received approval for the project but there are a few logistical challenges the team has to overcome before opening the ice cream shop. One of the conditions is that Keller would have to bring the public sidewalk up to current standards, Thomas Keller Restaurant Group CFO David Ciabattari told SF Gate.
In this sweet twist of fate, Keller joins the likes of Jordi Roca from El Celler de Can Roca who opened up an avant garde ice cream shop that serves a concoction best described as an ice cream grilled sandwich.
Will Keller expand his gourmet ice cream shop nationwide? It's unclear but stay tuned for more details as they become available.
