British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is expanding his Jamie's Italian concept to the deep blue sea. The chef has announced he has teamed up with Royal Caribbean to bring his Italian restaurant to two cruise ships, according to a press release.
Oliver's first restaurant in the sea will open aboard the brand new Quantum of the Seas this November. A second Jamie's Italian will follow on Anthem of the Seas, dubbed Quantum's sister ship, which will set sail in spring 2015. The restaurants will serve dishes that are made with ''simple, fresh ingredients" and served " in a warm, inviting ambiance'' Jamie's Italian is known for.
The chef's marine developments are part of the global expansion he announced last year. Oliver plans to bring Jamie's Italian to 16 locations around the world including Stockholm, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
''I'm really excited about this restaurant because I think it's going to be a really nice little tweak on the usual Jamie's Italian experience. I think it's going to suit the ship just fine,'' Oliver explains in the video below. Check it out:
