Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List for 2014 is now out with the Nahm restaurant in Bangkok, run by chef David Thompson, taking the top spot as the Best Restaurant in Asia.
Speaking to Fine Dining Lovers just after the announcement, the Australian born chef said he was astonished to receive the award and that he really did not expect it, adding: “To be honest I'm really quite surprised. I bet against myself. I honestly thought I'd dropped out.” Speaking about his team, Thompson explained: “I’ve lost a bet and it's going to take me six months to take all of them out on their parties."
2nd place and the Best Restaurant in Japan went to Yoshihiro Narisawa for his Les Créations de Narisawa restaurant in Tokyo. Third place went to the Gaggan restaurant, Bangkok, with chef Gaggan Anand.
