Alex Atala graces the cover of the February edition of GQ Brasil and looks fierce while striking a variety of poses in the behind-the-scenes video below. Clad in leather, Atala is seen mounting a motorcycle and battling 'flying' knives in the photo shoot for the magazine.
Known for using Brazilian ingredients in an unconventional way, Atala told GQ Brasil that he wants to change the world he only way he knows how: through food.
For him, it's not just about running a successful restaurant - his restaurant D.O.M. ranks sixth on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list - but also having a positive socio-economic impact on producers, artisans, farmers and other people involved in creating the raw materials chefs use.
In the year ahead, Atala hopes to deliver a speech on hunger at the United Nations and is working to establish new business models for small producers. He's also co-curating the upcoming MAD Symposium with René Redzepi in Copenhagen.
There's no doubt Atala has a lot on his plate. ''I'm freaking out,'' he told GQ, explaining that everything will be under magnifying glass this year. Judging by what he recently revealed to FDL, it's fair to say Atala has nothing to worry about.
