Legendary French chef Alain Ducasse has been tapped to take his celebrated cuisine to new heights. The chef will developed space food for astronauts at the International Space Station.
Ducasse will collaborate with French paté manufacturer Hénaff to create 25 gourmet dishes to be sampled by astronauts on celebratory occasions such as birthdays, The Local reports.
So what Michelin-starred French delicacies will astronauts be able to eat? The menu includes celeriac purée, Breton lobster, duck breast confit with caper sauce, organic quinoa with seaweed, Menton lemon condiment and chocolate cake.
NASA awarded to contract to Hénaff because it's the only French food company that uses manufacturing and packaging techniques that comply with USDA standards, according to The Local.
French food is the latest offering by NASA, which is currently experimenting with 3D-printed pizza and growing basil on the moon.
