For almost 200 years Brooks Brothers has offered fine American apparel, now the clothing giant is hoping to swoon customers with an appetite for beef. The retailer is set to open a steakhouse in Manhattan next summer, the New York Post reports.
The Makers and Merchats steakhouse -named after the company slogan -will be located at 11 E. 44th Street near the Brooks Brothers flagship store at 346 Madison Avenue, according to the New York Post. It will be the first of many locations set to open throughout the country.
With its proximity to Grand Central Terminal the steakhouse is expected to lure high-powered executives. It will occupy three levels and compete with nearby legendary steakhouses like Morton's, Sparks and Capital Grille.
The New York Post reports the retailer has yet to hire a management company for the project but the steakhouse will have the look and feel of the ''rich wood paneling'' that's become a Brooks Brothers trademark.
