That cold winter rush to the kitchen in the morning to boil the kettle for the morning brew could soon be a thing of the past with the development of the iKettle - a simple kettle that can be set to the boil at the flick of a smart phone app.
Forget waiting the two minutes for the water to boil - all you have to do is open the app while you're semi snoozing and by the time you're out of bed the kettle is boiled - what about that rush to make a cup of tea between the adverts of your favourite show? defeated by this £99.99 gadget.
The app for the kettle can also be set to wake you up in the morning with a friendly message and of course the promise of a brew - it has four temperate modes for different kinds of tea and will even keep the water warm if you're not quite ready to pour yet.
It's yet to be seen if the new device will slow the rising demand for coffee in the UK but if it becomes popular it will certainly mark the decline of the great British saying: "stick the kettle on".
