The UK's Top 50 Restaurants in the 2014 Good Food Guide have been released with Simon Rogan's L'Enclume restaurant in Cambria squeezing in ahead of Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck restaurant in Bray to achieve the number one spot.
Both L'Enclume and The Fat Duck received perfect 10 scores - the only two restaurants to ever achieve a perfect score.
In 3rd place on the list is Nathan Outlaw at the Rock in Cornwall who is up from 5th position in 2013. A number of other big names in London made the list - The Ledbury, Pollen Street Social, Hibicus and The Square.
Speaking about taking the top spot Rogan said: “I’m so proud of my staff and this phenomenal achievement with the Good Food Guide. We have received this accolade because of our focus on both the food product and the customer – keeping it natural and fresh in the kitchen, and friendly but professional in the dining room.
The Good Food Guide is made up of reviews of restaurants from all over the UK with around 1300 listings. In 2013 the guide was purchased by the super market chain Waitrose part of their attempt to further align themselves with great chefs and top quality food.
