Dominique Ansel, the creator of the cronut, has posted a picture of a new dessert he's working on that looks to improve the classic s'more.
Looking to carry on from the success of his hybrid croissant + doughnut - The Cronut, Ansel has worked on a frozen s'more that contains a vanilla flavored Turkish style maraş dondurma - an ice cream with a thick consistency and resistance to melting thanks the use of a thickening agent called salep - a flour that's created from the roots of a particular kind of orchid.
After being encased inside marshmallow the s'more is placed on top of an applewood-smoked willow branch and caramelized to order.
As of yet the creation doesn't have a great name but we're backing one of Grub Street's many suggestions, The S'moresicle. This sounds like a dessert packed full of texture, flavor and different techniques - is Ansel revealing himself to be a pastry visionary? What do you think?
