There's nothing worse that throwing food away. Deciding you want a piece of fruit, say maybe an apple only to take it from the fruit bowl to find mold on the outside.
It's frustrating to say the least which is why this invention is such a welcome discovery. Created by the design student Jagjit Chodha, it's a fruit bowl that tells users before foods become moldy.
The appliance of science comes from a number of small sensors placed in the bowl that can detect an increase of the gas ethylene - something that fruits emit as they ripen.
The concept was made for the Made In Brunel Show at London’s Brunel University and although it's not yet commercially available we're sure it will be soon.
