Studies on longevity abound but the most recent research indicates that drinking certain types of coffee can make you live longer, the Daily Mail reports.
Not all coffee in created equal, to really enjoy the benefits of java you should drink Greek-style boiled coffee. That was the conclusion of researchers who studied the inhabitants of the Greek island Ikaria, who are twice as likely as any Europeans to live well into their 90s.
''Boiled Greek type of coffee, which is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants and contains only a moderate amount of caffeine, seems to gather benefits compared to other coffee beverages,'' said Dr. Gerasimos Siasos, author of the study that was published in the SAGE journal Vascular Medicine.
So what makes Greek coffee different than, let's say, filtered American coffee?
Greek coffee, just like Turkish coffee, is boiled and not filtered. Before drinking, the coffee is allowed to sit so the grounds sink to the bottom.
Since Greek and Turkish coffee are prepared in similar ways (and we don't want to choose sides) below you'll find two videos detailing the process. Enjoy!
