Grow A Garden In A Fish Tank

This revolutionary home aquaponics system lets you grow a garden on top of a fish tank.

It's a lovely sustainable food design from the team at Back to the Roots, a social enterprised based in Oakland, California. Creators  Alex Velez and Nikhil Arora, who met while studying at Berkeley, are also the masterminds behind the cardboard mushrooms kits sold at Whole Foods.

The way the aquaponic garden works is simple: the fish waste from the tank is used to fertilize the plants which, in turn, help purify the water for your fish. Branded as a ''closed-loop eco system,'' the aquaponic system will allow you to grow herbs, beans and vegetables.
