Restuarant JAAN at Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore has been named as the One to Watch for the upcoming ceremony of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants List.
The restaurant, which sits on the 70th floor of the Stamford Hotel, is run by the French born chef Julien Royer and has picked up a strong reputation for it's beautiful views of Singapore and modern spin on French cuisine.
The award was given to JAAN because the restaurant has made a 'significant impact in a relatively short period' and because jury members of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list feel it has 'the potential to rise further up the rankings'.
Royer, who comes from a family of farmers, has built a strong following in Singapore for sourcing the best and freshest ingredients from all over the world. His modern French cooking style and respect for ingredients both assets he honed working with the chefs Michel Bras and Bernard Andrieux.
Speaking about the award, Royer said: “I am very proud of this accomplishment. Just to be part of this list - voted for by the most well-respected opinion leaders in the restaurant industry...is an incredible recognition. It’s a very exciting time to be a chef working in Asia’s restaurant industry as it continues to gain global prominence.”
Royer will accept the award live during the inaugural Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony on February 25th 2013.
