Celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa is taking a big gamble on the Las Vegas strip. Along with business partner and Hollywood actor Robert DeNiro, he has opened the world's largest Nobu restaurant.
The 327-seater joint is located inside the first-ever Nobu Hotel, which is contained inside the legendary Caesars Palace. The restaurant, which takes up 12, 775-square feet, features a sushi bar, a private dining area and three teppayaki tables - something new to the Nobu franchise.
Food and drink offerings include lobster sashimi with gold flakes and caviar and an $80 sake box, a favorite of DeNiro's. The exquisite decor is abundant in bamboo columns, wood, stones and paper, all of which contribute to a zen atmosphere.
The hotel, which will celebrate its grand opening on April 28th, has an exquisite in-room dining menu that includes Eggs Matsuhisa, bagel and lox (a rice cake with salmon sashimi) and green tea waffles.
So far, the restaurant and hotel have received rave reviews from critcics. Perhaps no one described it better than writer Robin Leach from the Las Vegas Sun: ''I think Nobu received a sneak peak at what heaven might be like; he somehow captured it, brought it down to Earth and miraculously placed it in his new hotel at the heart of The Strip.''
