For most of this year, members of the legendary New York rock band Velvet Underground have been caught up in a legal battle over the Andy Warhol's iconic banana on the cover of their 1967 album (pictured below).
After a judge dismissed the band's copywright claim over the image this week, original band member Lou Reed express his disappointment in a passive-agressive way by posting a sliced (mutilated?) banana subtitled ''Sectioned'' on Facebook. Fans are rooting for the now defunct band whose only option is to seek an appeal.
The unfortunate banana war began after the Andy Warhol Foundation struck a deal with Apple for distribution of the image, according to the Guardian.
