Sticky fingered bandits have made off with an undisclosed amount of maple syrup which could be worth up to as much as $30-million.
The syrup vanished from a warehouse in Quebec and is believed to have been syphoned off by thieves who hope to sell the golden liquid on the black market.
The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, who manage the global reserves of maple syrup, released the news this week after initially covering up the robbery.
Quebec produces nearly 80% of the world's maple syrup but a spokesperson for the federation said there was no worries of a global shortage and that maple syrup supplies would continue to flow.
