Something big is brewing between the chefs at Alinea and Eleven Madison Park and we are dying to find out. The video below hints at an exciting collaboration and possible city swap between both Michelin starred restaurants.
In the video, we see the staff at each restaurant packing up and putting everything into boxes (was that Grant Achatz in a box?). Alinea is known for its ambiciously creative dishes so we hope the staff remembered to pack everything for their 86 ingredient lamb dish and their signature table dessert.
After some serious packing - including tanks of liquid nitrogen, chairs and lamps -the team at Eleven Madison Park heads to Manhattan's Grand Central Station while the folks at Alinea head to Chicago's Union Station. Do you see a theme unfolding here?
The Chicago Tribune shed some light on the matter. The video is tittled 21st Century Ltd, which refers to 20th Century Limited, a luxury passenger train that ran between New York City and Chicago for the first half of the last century. Are the restaurants going on the road? Is a city swap in the works?
Whatever the mystery project is, Eater predicts it will go live in October, which makes sense since The Braiser announced Alinea will be closed from October 10-14th.
The collaboration would be one of many big changes at Eleven Madison Park. The restaurant is 10th on the World's 50 Best Restaurant list while Alinea ranks 7th.
What do you think the chefs have up their sleeves?
