The Impact of the 50 Best Retaurants List
The website Big Hospitality has released a great podcast discussing the impact the 50 Best list has had on the restaurant industry in the nine years it has been running.
They speak with The Worlds 50 Best Academy chair, Richard Vines. Heston Blumenthal and Shirley Spear, owner of the The Three Chimneys restaurant, about what it actually feels like to make the list and just how much it can impact on business.

Gaston Acurio - Astrid Y Gastón - Lima
An ambassador for Peruvian cuisine Gaston Acurio is one of the most passionate and exciting chefs on The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants list at the moment. His flagship restaurant Astrid Y Gastón serves traditional Peruvian dishes and ingredients and is famous for it's warm ceviche.
In 2011 the restaurant was 42 on the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants List and here is a recently released video from behind the scenes of the chef's kitchen.
Eric Ripert - Le Barnardin - New York
The food charity City Harvest has made a 30 million dollar pledge to raise funds towards it's waste food collection and distribution service. The pledge was made during a special luncheon chaired by chef Eric Ripert who has been an active supporter of the 30-year-old charity.
In 2011 the chef auctioned a dinner at Le Bernardin, 18 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants List, for $40,000.
