Massimo Bottura
The Italian chef, Massimo Bottura, 4th on the World's 50 best Restaurants List in 2011, recently appeared at a slow food meeting organised by the Italian Alliance between chefs and slow food. The chef, famous for his approach to local produce and the slow food movement, attended the event in Tuscany, telling visitors:
“In the future I see chefs coming into the kitchen with hands dirty from the soil, from freshly milked milk, guided by their past and their memory, distilled with a critical, not nostalgic, interpretation, to bring the best of our past into the future,
"We are the real guardians of our culture. In the Lima Declaration, the open letter to tomorrow’s chefs, signed with other international chefs, we find the same principles that guide Slow Food’s philosophy - attention to small-scale producers and traditions."

To mark the fact that there are only ten days to go until the World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards 2012 - we have released a picture gallery of dishes from last year's top ten restaurants. The food looks amazing and is a real look at what some of the world's best chefs create in their kitchens.

With ten day's to go until the world finds out which restaurants will be crowned the best in the the world, we've released a promo clip from the 2011 World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards.
