Try the experience of dining on a tree, in front of the stunning wiew of the Thailand sea and beaches: set high amongst the tree tops at Soneva Kiri resort in Thailand, The Dining Pod is engineered with a rigid frame swathed in woven rattan, not unlike a cocoon with an open panorama window. Adventurous diners fasten a leather seatbelt and get hoisted 16 feet (4,8 meters) into the native massang trees, where there are spectacular aerial views of the surrounding beaches.
Up to four diners board the pod, and are then elevated to the lofty height by a system of safety winches. Food courses arrive courtesy of a flying waiter – harnessed to a zip line – as do beverage replenishments."Flying servers" get around around taking a much more acrobatic approach, as they zipline down to the platform below. The restaurant's dishes comes predominantly from the resort's organic gardens or locally from the island. Moreover, the hotel tries to keep the whole setup eco-friendly, with no bolts or attachments being used on the massang trees.
A night for two at Soneva Kiri starts at $950 and includes scheduled air transfers, three daily meals, alcoholic beverages, WiFi, and laundry service.
