The avant guard cuisine of one of the world’s most famous chefs has inspired a Spanish design student to develop a line of innovative packaging designed exclusively for his restaurant. The chef in question is none other than Michelin-star chef Juan Mari Arzak. Along with his daughter Elena, Juan Mari runs Arzak, the restaurant ranked no. 8 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
Juan Mari’s modern research-based techniques have elevated Basque cuisine in to global status. The cutting-edge dishes at Arzak, which opened back in 1897, are what inspired Marta González Palacios, a student of ELISAVA Design Academy in Barcelona.
González has nothing but praise for Juan Mari. ‘’He is a very experienced chef who fuses together vanguard and traditional cuisine. His conception about cookery made him develop innovative and sophisticated dishes.’’ Arzak’s new packaging designs include elegant engravings for products like honey, olive oil, marmalade and frozen foods.
