In the photographic studio created by Sergio Coimbra in Sao Paulo, chefs showcase their work with tasting menus as part of the artistict concept.
Even after many years of success, supper clubs and gourmet events are still fashionable. One of the pioneers, and still the most renowned, Nuno Mendes, has managed to spread the model all over the world, and now many variations can be seen, imbued with creative new concepts.
In the case of Studio SC - founded by photographer Sergio Coimbra in Sao Paulo - the idea is different. It is not a commercial event, but part of an artistic concept, where chefs have the opportunity to show their work while interacting with groups of food lovers and studio staff.
The place is located on the roof of the studio, with a screen and camera that enables guests to follow all details of the food preparation, and each place setting comes with its own special light so that guests miss no detail. Some of the more impressive dishes or new concepts are photographed in special sessions at the main studio. Within this space, Coimbra has created an area for chefs to find the right balance between the aesthetic and flavour – because the interaction between chefs, guests and photo specialists help chefs perfect their own culinary concepts.
