2022-23 will be the fifth edition of the global competition, following a hugely successful showing in 2019-21, in which Sweden's Jerome Calayag was crowned winner at the Grand Finale in Milan. He joins the hall of fame alongside previous winners Yasuhiro Fujio, Mitch Lienhard and Mark Moriarty.
Moriarty was the winner of the inaugural edition in 2015, and he had this advice to young chefs at the most recent Grand Finale:
“Winning opened a whole range of opportunities for me, and it has grown year-on-year to be an unbelievable event. Very few people get this opportunity so grab it. You’ll have a new network all over the world and you’ll be able to progress your career better and more quickly. The network of people you’ll meet is probably more important than whether you win or not.”
