Born in Ankara, Turkey, Pinar Yolaçan is a designer, visual artist and photographer currently based in New York. Despite her young age, Pinar has already held solo shows in NYC, Istanbul, Helsinki and has participated in group shows at many famous fairs and festivals.
Her work was included in the book The Portrait Now published by the National Portrait Gallery in London. Since 1997, reviews of her work have appeared internationally in the New York Times, Art in America, ArtReview, Bidoun, George and i-D magazines.
Some of these photographs will be shown at a group exhibition at NRW Forum in Dusseldorf opening in February. Check out her Maria Project (here hers website and blog).

Blue Corn chips.
If you were a dish, which one would you be?
Acaraje (a traditional Brazilian and Nigerian dish made from peeled black-eyed peas formed into a ball and then deep fried in dendê, a palm oil)

Something you always have in your fridge?
Cold Water.
What would food would you happily die eating?
Mangoes.
What’s your best fine dining experience?
Eating fish and raki (a traditional Turkish drink) with my mother in Canakkale in the summer. Just relaxed, near the sea: it’s wonderful.
The first picture you took
I don’t remember exactly, but probably my grandmother's picture.
The first “real” photocamera you had
A 35 mm camera.

Color.
If your photography was a dish, which one would it be?
A chocolate bar.
Make a wish: who or what you’d like to portrait?
It’s impossible to say: I have too many people I wish I could take portraits of.
