UK celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is well known for his larger than life persona and presence in the kitchen, but that would now appear to translate to his food. He has created a seemingly enormous burger, leaving fans confused as to how they'd tackle eating it.
Ramsay shared the recipe for his monster-sized 'Onion Tatin Burger', which he dubs the 'perfect burger recipe for the long weekend'. Yet his social media followers were somewhat divided in their responses.
The burger, which riffs on the tarte tatin, sandwiches a beef patty inside a caramelised onion and apple tatin pastry bun, topped off with melted camembert cheese, apple sauce and all the usual trimmings.

The patty recipe calls for 16 oz (449g) of beef, including 4 oz(112g) ground short rib, 8 oz (225g) ground chuck and 4 oz (112g) ground sirloin, granulated garlic, salt, pepper, and apple butter, to make two patties.
Assuming one patty is 8 oz or around 225g, in line with a classic burger size, the apparent enormity of the patty might be an optical illusion given that it's not balanced out by a normal bread burger bun, but sandwiched by thinner puff pastry.

A string of comments have been made on Ramsay's social media accounts, including: "Is it me, or is that waaayyy too much meat proportionally"; and "That's not a burger, it's a softball-sized meatloaf. What's wrong with a simple patty, salt and pepper, thrown on the grill like dad used to make?"
There were also a few simple quips like: "It’s too bloody big Gordon!!" Meanwhile, others were impressed but perplexed: "Looks good, but how do you eat it? :o"
One fan had actually tried and tested the burger: "Had this the other week, tastes great but probably the messiest burger I've ever had."
