"Angel Hands" - Teaching the Importance of Food

Claudia Mauderer was recently shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Award 2021 Student competition, with the story Angel Hands. The project looks at the work of Sprouting Minds, a non-profit organisation in the Fisantekraal area, which aims to provide meals to school children, as well as education on food sustainability through talks and cultivation initiatives. South Africa's economy has taken a knock that will take many years to recover, and has affected the livelihoods of all citizens, particularly those in informal settlements. Sprouting Minds is run by three individuals from a local church. Their aim is to educate members in Fisantekraal on the importance of food nourishment.
