SingleThread owners Kyle and Katina Connaughton and Tony Greenberg have just announced the expansion of their three-Michelin-star restaurant in Healdsburg, California, to a new 24-acre farm site down the road, which will become their "forever" home.
"We are thrilled to move our farm to this new permanent home just minutes from the restaurant and inn," said chef Kyle from the farm-driven restaurant.
At nearly five times their former five-acre site, the move, in partnership with Bill Price of Price Family Vineyards, will allow the award-winning team to expand into a larger working farm centred around sustainable agricultural techniques. They will also engage in workshops with the wider community and explore new avenues like mushroom and botanical production.
"I have long had a vision to create a shared space in support of vibrant ecology on our forever home. To gently work with nature and for that land to serve not only an agricultural purpose but a community and educational purpose as well," explained Katina Connaughton, who can usually be found working the land surrounding the restaurant, where she grows the majority of the produce used by her husband in the restaurant.
“My farming team and I are excited to share our knowledge of regenerative agricultural practices with other farmers, especially new farmers starting their careers. We envision a learning space for those who want to deepen their relationship with their food system and strengthen their craft" she said.
This new site will also allow the couple to continue collaborating on the Sonoma Family Meal project, for which they helped raised funds during the coronavirus pandemic.
