Today is #BourdainDay and just two years after the tragic death of Anthony Bourdain his loss his felt more keenly than ever. Here's a look at how the food world is remembering him.
The world of gastronomy, food and media is still feeling Anthony Bourdain's absence. The fact that the vacuum created when he left hasn’t been filled only underlines just what a unique talent he was, and how lucky we were to have him.
#BourdainDay was created by his good friends, chefs José Andrés and Eric Ripert, who wanted to pay homage to the man. But instead of dwelling on his death, they wanted to celebrate his life and legacy, so they asked us all to raise a glass to Anthony Bourdain on June the 25th each year.
“Anthony was a beautiful boy. He was exceptional, he was special, he was clever. And apart from being a cook, he knew how to eat. There’s an art to eating. He had that great ability to know how to eat properly, to maximise pleasure, to indulge. But the most important thing is, he is one of those very few chefs who created a movement, and not a following. He was a true artist. He was a poet. He was cool. He was the Hemingway of gastronomy. And he was my friend. I admired him, I respected him. I love him dearly and I miss him greatly.” - Marco Pierre White
