Michelin Guide unveils Florida selection for 2024

The Michelin Guide has unveiled its selection for Florida 2024, with the addition of nine new one-star restaurants in Orlando (four), Miami (three), Tampa (two) and two Green Stars given out.

Orlando stands above Florida’s other destinations with the most new stars. When You Wish Upon a Star, probably Disney’s most famous song, which comes from the 1940 classic Pinocchio, could indeed be the title song of this Michelin Guide selection as Disney World's Victoria & Albert’s restaurant, located at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Orlando, helmed by chef Matthew Sowers, and serving a tasting menu that starts at $295, picked up a first Michelin Star for the animation house.

No restaurant in the State has yet to breach the three-star ceiling and for now, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami holds the highest accolade in Florida with two stars. Orlando’s multicultural dining scene was reflected in the cuisines of the new one-star restaurants: Vietnamese restaurant Camille, Japanese restaurant Natsu, and Peruvian place Papa Llama.

Two of Miami’s new one-star restaurants are Japanese—Ogawa and Shingo, while the third addition to the Guide is EntreNos, serving contemporary cuisine. Tampa, which didn't have any restaurants in the inaugural Michelin Guide selection two years ago made a mark this time with two additions: Ebbe, with a distinctly Scandinavian flavor, and omakase concept Kōsen.

There are now 28 Michelin-starred restaurants in Florida. Overall, though, the quality and diversity of cuisines mean there is a bright future for chefs and diners alike in The Sunshine State. There is still room to grow for many restaurants to attain two- and three-star accolades, but for now, there is much to be excited about in Florida.
