Thailand has its first ever three-Michelin-star restaurant in Bangkok’s Sorn, announced in what is the eighth edition of the Guide.
The restaurant, helmed by chef Supaksorn ‘Ice’ Jongsiri, has charted a steady and consistent rise since gaining its first star back in 2019, adding a second the following year, and now the much coveted third.
Focusing on the art of Southern Thai cuisine, blending tradition with modernity, and refinement with evolution, the third star comes from a rigorous dedication to excellence and consistency of the highest standards.
In a good night for Thailand’s culinary scene, the Michelin Guide also promoted Côte by Mauro Colagreco to two star status to join Baan Tepa, Chef’s Table, Gaa, Mezzaluna, R-Haan, and Sühring in the second tier of fine dining. Four restaurants were awarded their first Michelin star and one promoted from Michelin selected status. The newcomers are Akkee, Avant, Goat, and Aulis, while Coda was promoted from selected to Michelin star status. Only one new green star was awarded this year, to restaurant Baan Tepa.
Thailand is now home to one three-star restaurant, seven two-stars, and 28 one-Michelin-star establishments making it one of the most exciting up and coming fine-dining destinations in the region.
