Women in Gastronomy 2019: 12 Female Chefs Celebrate in Bangkok

Women in Gastronomy (WIG) celebrates its second edition on 8 and 9 March 2019 at Banyan Tree Bangkok, sponsored by Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino, with a host of talks and dinners.

Building on the success of the event's launch last year, the Thai capital will once again showcase some of Thailand's finest female culinary talent cooking alongside guest chefs.

In the spirit of the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Thailand, this year celebrations include Italian guest chef, Michelin starred Cristina Bowerman from Glass Hosteria and Romeo in Rome.

The symposium kicks off on 8 March with presentations and panel discussions, followed by a special multi-chefs Bangkok Street Food Lunch featuring unique dishes from the city’s leading female chefs and restaurants.

The afternoon introduces a new session on  "Women in Wine" – inviting some of Italy’s most prestigious wine producers from Sicily's Planeta, Bellavista in Franciacorta, Frescobaldi in Tuscany and Masciarelli in Abruzzo to present their wines to guests for tasting. 

The day closes with a unique 4 hands gala dinner fusing the culinary talents of Cristina Bowerman and Chudaree Debhakam in a 6 course menu, which is sure to be an exciting riff of flavours and technique. Another dinner will also be held on the evening of the 9 March.

All events are open to the public, in what is sure to be one of the most talked about events of the year. See the full programme below.

4 Hands Gala Dinner "Thailand Meets Italy" - 8  & 9 March 2019

Italian chef Cristina Bowerman and first winner of Top Chef Thailand Chudaree ‘Tam’ Debhakam, will join forces in the kitchen to present an exclusive tasting menu revolving around seasonal, local Thai ingredients.

The 6 course dinners will be paired with top Italian wines in a private area at the multiple awarded Vertigo rooftop restaurant.
