The wonders of plant-based cuisine will be honored at the upcoming festival The Vegetarian Chance to be held in Switzerland and Italy. Themed Feeding the Planet, the event is sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna and spearheaded by journalist Gabriel Eschenazi and chef Pietro Leemann from Joia, the first vegetarian restaurant in Europe to earn a Michelin star.
The Vegetarian Chance festival will be split in two stages, here's the exciting line up:
June 7th in Ascona, Switzerland
The first leg of the festival will be held in the historic Monte Verità conference and culture center which was home to a revolutoinary vegetarian community at the turn of the 20th century. The program includes a documentary on Indian environmentalist Vandana Shiva, a panel discussion on the culture of vegetarian cuisines, and gala dinner prepared by Chef Leemann.
June 22th in Milan, Italy
The grand finale of The Vegetarian Chance will feature an international vegan competition at restaurant Joia. Ten European chefs will prepare their best vegan dishes to present before a grand jury consisting of chef Pietro Leemann; American chef Kristen Thilbeault, winner of the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef 2013; science writer Marco Bianchi; environmental expert Lorenzo Sonognini; opinion leader in the catering industry Davide Paolini; and Luca Sacchi, a non-vegetarian multi-starred chef.
