Museum of Ice Cream Arrives in New York For One Summer Only
Take a break from the summer heat of August with a whimsical culinary stop celebrating all things ice cream, from tastings to art.
New York's eclectic selection of museums just a got a little cooler this summer with the opening of the city's first ever ice cream museum.
Located at 100 Gansevoort Street in Manhattan's meatpacking district, the Museum of Ice Cream, will open its door to the “modern, whimsical urban ice cream playground” on 29 July, running for just one month until the end of August.
Children, and let's face it, big kids at heart, or art lovers distracted from Whitney Art Museum a few doors up, will have plenty of excuses to drop in and re-live their ice cream fantasies, whether seeking genuine ice-cream centric trivia or some serious ice-cream tasting.
Highlights include a swimming pool full of rainbow sprinkles, balloons you can eat and an enormous, massive ice cream sundae. There will also be an ice cream sandwich swing fit for two – how romantic – and an ice cream scooper seesaw. That's not to mention the Tinderland ice-cream dating app.
Stop off for a "Scoop of the Week" before you leave – speciality ice-cream creations by some of New York’s finest ice cream purveyors like Black Tap and OddFellows Ice Cream Co, all included in your ticket price.
Modern visuals from NYC artists are the cherry on top:
