First it was Porsche, then Gucci, we quipped about Nike perhaps opening their own restaurant with the slogan “Just Roux It” - we never guessed just how close to the truth that was.
That’s because in just a few days the golfing superstar and Nike’s sponsor wonder man Tiger Woods is set to open his $8 million restaurant in Florida.
The Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club, build in the Harbourside Place development in Jupiter, has no expense spared with Marble flown direct from Italy and Woods spending way more than most high end restaurant fit outs.
There’s no details about who will be in charge of the food and beverage program at the new restaurant but Woods promises to create a family friendly place and some pictures of dishes have been posted on the his Facebook page.
Other sports stars with restaurants:
Basketball sensation Michael Jordan, a close friend of Woods, runs his own line of steak houses, offering classic American dining with a friendly sports bar theme.
Ex Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has an Italian fine dining restaurant in Manchester, England, called Rosso.
The world tennis star Novak Djokovic caused controversy in 2012 when he bought up the world’s entire supply of a rare and expensive Donkey cheese with plans to sell the ingredient in his own restaurants in Serbia.
Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather said recently that he wanted to speak with Gordon Ramsay about the idea of opening a restaurant in Las Vegas.
We guess the star will certainly be hoping his restaurant goes along the same lines as one of his most famous golf shots.
