Dubai’s Kinoya, a relaxed, yet thoughtful izakaya restaurant, has been named the One To Watch as part of the inaugural World’s 50 Best Restaurants MENA awards programme.
The restaurant is just 11 months old, but has established itself as a restaurant of excellence and quiet confidence under the guidance of chef-owner Neha Mishra.
A native of Dehli, Mishra grew up in the UAE. She first came to prominence on the city’s food scene with a Japanese supper club called A Story of Food from her home. She served over 7000 guests before deciding to bring her concept to the mainstream.
Incredibly, Mishra is entirely self-taught, and has never received any culinary training, either formally, or from a mentor of any sort. Instead, she has learned from books, educating her own palate and frequent research trips to Japan.
Kinoya offers great value, with chef Mishra’s ramen bowl and a couple of selections from the robata grill list coming in at as little as $40 per head.
Having achieved so much so quickly with so little, there can only be magnificent things to come from chef Neha Mishra and Kinoya.
