For someone who has built a restaurant empire across the Americas and Europe, Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio maintains his feet firmly planted on the ground. In this video from Diner's Club, you'll see this talented chef talk about his humble beginnings, his struggles to open his flagship restaurant Astrid & Gastón (now known as the best in Latin America) and his plans for the future.
The interview was published on the heels of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurant Awards during which Acurio was given The Diner's Club Lifetime Achievement Award. During his extensive career, Acurio has developed a multitude of brands including Tanta restaurants and La Mar ceviche and tapas bar. Aside from expanding his restaurants, his plans for the future include launching a series of hotels.
