Although it might look like the closing scene of a new action thriller in which Bruce Willis disarms a world ending bomb with just seconds to spare, the tangled mass of wires in the video below actually involve a clever, semi-dangerous, kitchen hack that turns a slow cooker into a homemade Sous Vide machine.
The video, created by Chow, was originally posted in 2010 but with more and more people now aware of Sous Vide and more people choosing to buy professional cooking equipment for the home, it seemed like a nice way to show how similar cooking effects can be achieved with something many of us already have in the home.
You are going to need to buy some extra kit to perform this hack, you’re also going to need to be very careful as it involves rewiring some of the electrics. Also, wires in this video have been left exposed to show the connections, we advise that all wiring should be protected correctly before you actually try to use this in the kitchen.
The video below walks you through the entire process and shows the finished slow cooker in action.
