Alessandro Bergamo is the finalist of the Italy and South-East Europe region of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2020. The sous chef at Cracco Restaurant was able to convince the chef jury of seven important gastronomic names: Pino Cuttaia, Matias Perdomo, Antonia Klugmann, Marianna Vitale, Janez Bratovž, Ana Grgić, Oana Coantă of his skills and take gold home.
The announcement came at the end of a special celebration dinner, punctuated by the dishes prepared by the Italian judges, at the Cavallerizze of the Leonardo da Vinci Science and Technology Museum in Milan.
"I thank all the mentors, for me, it is a great opportunity", declared the winner excitedly, who presented the dish "Better an egg today or a chicken tomorrow?".
The winner will compete with the 11 finalists from the other 11 regions of the world, during the Grand Final scheduled for 2020. The mentor for the final will be Antonia Klugmann.
While Riccardo Camanini, mentor of Alessandro Bergamo for this regional final, sent a video message. "I thank all the judges for believing in us," he commented.

The Fine Dining Lovers Food for Thought Award
Voted for by the online Fine Dining Lovers community, this award is for the young chef who best represents their personal belief through their dish.
Winner: Antonio Romano, sous chef of Attimi by Heinz Beck CityLife, Milan, with his signature dish "Roma Locuta".
The Acqua Panna Award for Connection in Gastronomy
Voted for by mentors representing 50 countries around the world, for the dish that will be the one that reflects the perfect connection between different cultures on the plate.
Winner: Tommaso Tonioni, ex-sous chef of the restaurant Il Pagliaccio in Rome, who participated with "Lol 'Eel' Pop - Honey From The Beach & Potatoes From The Lake".
The S.Pellegrino Award for Social Responsibility
Voted by an internationally recognized voice on sustainability in food, for the dish that will represent the principle of socially responsible practices.
Winner: Davide Marzullo, sous chef of The Market Place in Como, who presented the "Aubergine dish In Black Tie".
