The world of 3D printed food just got a little bit sweeter. The Sugar Lab, an architecture firm in Los Angeles, has created a stunning line of sugar sculptures using 3D printing technology.
The show stopping sculptures are created by computer aided design (CAD) technology similar to the one being studied to make 3D printed pizza for astronauts.
After each sugar sculpture is printed it is reinforced by applying a mixture of water and alcohol to harden the sugar substrate, according to Design Boom.
These beautiful 3D sugar sculptures are custom made to order. They can be used as pastry decorations, cake toppers and even to sweeten a cup of joe.
We can envision plenty of other uses, including a gorgeous tower of 3D sugar cubes for high tea. What would you do with these artistic sugar sculptures?
