Teams from University of California, Berkeley and National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan are developing clever 3D printed ‘smart caps’ that can sense levels of bacteria.
The caps, which are fitted with tiny electronic components, could be used to tell a person if a carton of milk has gone bad by simple turning the bottle.
The Huffington Post say that the teams behind the smart caps are hoping that 3D devices embedded with these type of components could become a useful feature in the future.
The idea of using a specially designed lid to tell if milk has gone bad sounds like a cool idea but is it really any better than the simple sniff and sip method?
