1. Davies and Brook - London - Just open
Daniel Humm has branched out across the Atlantic with his first London venture inside London's luxury hotel, Claridge's. The characteristic sleek lines and casual elegance from New York's Eleven Madison Park permeate the interiors and menus with favourites like the famed dry-aged duck dish from Eleven Madison Park making the menu plus other dishes like crispy rice salad with citrus-marinated yellowtail with pickled white carrots, jicama and herb pesto and Winter Squab with bitter greens, lemongrass and crispy shallots.

2. Mono, Hong Kong - just opened
Chef Ricardo Chaneton, the former head chef of Mirazur opens his debut 30 seater restaurant in Hong Kong with a contemporary French menu.

3. Muse - London - opened 11 January
Tom Aikens new Muse restaurant, a cosy 25-seater, fine dining restaurant located within a renovated mews house in Belgravia opened at the beginning of the year with an ambitious, experience led menu.

4. Dominique Ansel - Treehouse - London - opening 7 Feb
Dominique Ansel's new all-day cafe set in a modern space in London’s Covent Garden opens this February. Despite being known as the king of cronuts, this new destination will offer a full restaurant menu with sweet and savoury choices, and no cronut! A takeaway bakery counter on the ground floor offers pastries, tarts, and classic French viennoiserie, as well as coffee and tea.

5. Cheval Blanc Paris - Paris
French chef Arnaud Donckele is the new face behind the Cheval Blanc Paris where he'll be flexing his culinary muscles showcasing the skills he's become so well known for at La Vague D'Or in Cheval Blanc St Tropez.

6. La Fontaine Gaillon - Paris
French chef Marc Veyrat takes a moment off from cheddargate to take up the reins at La Fontaine Gaillon, his second Parisian address after Rural by Marc Veyrat at the Palais des Congrès. Located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, the menu offers daring and lakeside cuisine, showcasing lake fish. Expect dishes like crayfish casserole, Lake fish Bouillabaisse, Lobster carpaccio and shelled oysters or Rossini beef fillet with Thyme lamb and interiors designed by designer Axel Huynh.

7. elBulli1846 - Spain - slated to open February 2020
Chef Adrian Ferran finally steps back into the spotlight as expectant fans eagerly await the opening of his new gastronomic centre in Spain. The details remain a little hazy, and it won't be so much a restaurant as a "museum of culinary innovation."

8. Gymkhana - London - re-opens 18 February
One of London's finest destinations for contemporary Indian food returns in February after shuttering when it was destroyed by fire last summer. The restaurant interior will allow “a convivial club feel with a Kashmiri Chilli colour palette, bold carpeting and a collection of Indian art” while the menu will offer the same favourite including chatpatta, curry, biryani and tandoori bites.

9. Kol - London - Slated to open March
The eagerly awaited Mexican restaurant from Chef Santiago Lastra, formerly of Noma Mexico and Mugaritz, is slated to open this March, allowing London diners to sample high-end Mexican food. He told FDL to expect "Natural wines and a Mezcal bar, Mexican concept with ingredients with all the country, casual scene. We want to be multicultural in the design and the crafts, blend up the idea of a Mexican flavor" and we can't wait to try it!

10. For the Krasota - Moscow - opening March
Russian chef Vladimir Mukhin, of White Rabbit and Chef's Table fame, is set to open a new immersive and multisensory restaurant, "a place that will take you back to childhood or catapult you into the day after tomorrow" dipping even deeper into Russian history and nature. Chef Likarion Solntsev will be at the helm producing signature dishes like "quail cooked in ashes"

11. Ella - New York - slated opening - April
Manoella Buffara, of Manu fame and Latin America’s Miele One To Watch, finally brings her Brazilian cuisine to New York to wow local diners.

Legendary chef Grant Achatz returns with new restauant Ambria in Chicago, expect an "all-new, modern and stunning” experience.
