The Michelin guide for West Japan has been announced with two restaurants gaining a three star rating.
Kichisen and the Mizai restaurant in Kyoto are the latest restaurants in the region to be awarded the highest accolade by Michelin.
The total three star restaurants for the region now sit at 14 with 51 restaurants gaining two stars and a total of 202 restaurants receiving a one star rating.
Michelin splits Japan, with the Western publication covering Kyoto, Kobe,Osaka and Nara - they publish a separate guide for Tokyo, Yokohama and the Kamakura region due in December.
