Michelin released its 2020 guide to Shanghai and innovative restaurant Ultraviolet retains its three stars.
A total of 40 restaurants were awarded Michelin stars, up from 34 last year acknowledging the vibrant restaurant scene in Shanghai. Taian Table is Shanghai's biggest mover promoted to two stars from one.
Of the 31 one-star restaurants on the list, nine are new - Sichuanese inspired at Yu Zhi Lan, Cantonese influenced at Ming Court and Jin Xuan or typically Shanghainese as in the dishes prepared at Cheng Long Hang (Huangpu), Shaghai's international flavours are recognised with Da Vittorio's serving Italian and French accents found at Maison Lameloise. Bao Li Xuan, Moose (Pudong) and Xin Rong Ji (West Nanjing Road) are also are part of these newly awarded one-star restaurants.
